In the Republican Party, the race to win 1,215 delegates and secure the party's nomination continues. As Iowa and New Hampshire already voted, South Carolina is the next state up.

Looking to win voters in the GOP primary are none other than former UN ambassador Nikki Haley and former President Trump. Like Iowa and New Hampshire, South Carolina's primary will garner considerable attention, especially since this is the home state of Haley, who previously served as governor.

During a speech to her supporters in New Hampshire last night, Haley made it clear she's very much looking forward to campaigning in South Carolina. Ahead of the primary, the former governor likewise released new ads that ding both Trump and Biden.

What to know about Haley's ads in the Palmetto State

The race takes place in exactly one month from today. Between now and then, the Haley campaign's ads will caution voters that Biden is too old to stay in office, while Trump remains saddled with too much baggage.

The ads also promote the former South Carolina governor as a "better choice" that can spare Americans from a rehash of Trump vs. Biden. Investing $4 million in this latest buy, Haley's campaign positioned itself to remind South Carolina voters of her record as governor of the state.

Olivia Perez-Cubas, a spokeswoman for the campaign, expressed confidence in Haley's ability to perform well in the Palmetto State. Perez-Cubas noted the former governor served two terms in office, managing to reduce taxes, increase jobs, and battle illegal immigration.

The race to 1,215 delegates

To date, Haley has 17 delegates, while Trump carries 32. In recent campaign remarks, the former UN ambassador has gone after the media and political elites for encouraging a "coronation" of Trump.

Following last night's New Hampshire primary, Haley made it clear she's sticking in the race, citing it as "far from over." On social media, supporters of the former South Carolina governor warned despite Trump's current lead in the primary, he won't manage to make it across the finish line without Haley's voters in the general election.

Much of Haley's base is comprised of not just Republicans who've soured on Trump, but also moderates and Independents, many of whom express unwillingness to vote for the former president in November.
