In a recent Q&A, Nicole Kidman opened up about how filming the steamy scenes in her upcoming erotic drama Babygirl felt “liberating.” Kidman, 57, stars alongside The Iron Claw actor Harris Dickinson, 28. She mentioned that her comfort during filming was largely due to the care and direction of Halina Reijn, the film’s female director.
Feeling Safe On Set
Working closely with Dickinson, Kidman revealed that trust played a huge role in making the scenes work. She said, “We would look at each other and go, ‘Okay.'” Despite the intensity of the scenes, their professional bond and mutual understanding were important.
Kidman emphasized how Reijn ensured the actors’ comfort throughout the intimate scenes, explaining how this allowed her to feel free in her performance. She shared, “You go, okay, I’m just going to abandon everything and explore this with people I trust.” With Reijn at the helm, Kidman felt confident that no scene would push her out of her comfort zone.
Dickinson admitted he sometimes felt nervous filming these scenes with the Hollywood icon. “Of course, there were days where I would go in really terrified of a scene,” he said. But Reijn’s direction ensured that both actors felt safe. “If the scene wasn’t working, we never felt time was more important than our comfort,” Dickinson explained.
