Despite the recent rate cuts and rebate news, Louisiana hasn't shed its reputation as one of the priciest states in the country for auto insurance. Outlets including Forbes, MarketWatch and Insure.com have ranked the state as the No. 1 or No. 2 most expensive in their 2026 rankings — a stubborn statistic that tempers some of the optimism surrounding these recent reforms.

"We're made substantial progress, but there's so much more to do," Temple said in an earlier interview with USA Today Network, acknowledging the gap between recent gains and the state's still-troubled affordability ranking.
