New Study Reveals Disturbing News About Obesity

The negative health affects of obesity have existed on the record for quite some time. After all, obesity carries well-established links to strokes, high blood pressure, and a litany of other preventable health complications.

Many people turn to nutritious dieting and regular physical activity as a means of avoiding obesity and maintaining good health. However, as medical developments continue, more information is coming out about obesity and other health-related matters.

Now, it's been revealed that obesity could have even more daunting health impacts on individuals than previously suspected, according to a fresh Nature Metabolism study.

This doesn't bode well

Obesity's clinical definition is the state of having a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or above. The ideal BMI ranges between 18 and 25.

According to Harvard Medical School professor Dr. Caroline Apovian, the condition of obesity could prevent individuals from being able to feel full. This mental block allegedly maintains even after said individuals have consumed considerable amounts of sugar and fat.

To make matters worse, there is no evidence of this mental block reversing even after someone has lost weight and lowered their BMI.

Apovian hence maintains that obesity falls under the category of a "disease," due to the harm it inflicts upon the brain.

Much more work lies ahead

Despite these latest findings from Nature Metabolism, the medical community asserts that many more pieces of the puzzle have yet to be fully discovered.

For instance, the time in which the brain changes amid the emergence of obesity remains unknown. The medical community also hasn't explained if the aforementioned mental block occurs amid one's decent into obesity or after a certain amount of time passes while obese.

The bottom line

This latest study confirms that obesity remains extremely dangerous. Therefore, avoidance is the best possible route to steering clear of health issues associated with it, whether these issues fall under the category of known or unknown.

Going forward, Americans can expect more news about obesity and other related health complications from the medical community. In the meantime, a nutritious diet, healthy lifestyle, and decent amount of sleep each night stand as great ways to avoid obesity.
