Oliver Tree, the genre-blending singer, songwriter, and internet personality was known for chart-topping hits including "Life Goes On" and "Miss You." He has reportedly died after a devastating helicopter collision in Brazil.

The 32-year-old artist was among six people killed Sunday when two helicopters crashed in midair over Rio de Janeiro, according to Brazilian authorities. Officials said the cause of the accident remains under investigation.

The fatal collision occurred in the Recreio dos Bandeirantes neighborhood in Rio de Janeiro's western zone.

One of the helicopters plunged into an electric vehicle dealership parking lot, where the impact sparked a massive fire that engulfed approximately 20 electric cars before emergency crews brought the blaze under control.

Deadly Midair Collision Under Investigation

Authorities said both helicopters collided while flying over Rio de Janeiro on Sunday morning. Emergency responders rushed to the scene, where they discovered severely damaged aircraft surrounded by burned and crushed vehicles.

Among those killed alongside Tree were passengers Lucas Vignale, Gaspar Prim—better known online as Argentine YouTuber Gaspi—and Lucas Brito Chaves. The pilots, Alexandre Souza and Charles Marsillac, also lost their lives in the crash. Brazilian investigators have launched an official probe into what caused the helicopters to collide.

Born in Santa Cruz, California, Oliver Tree began making music as a teenager and quickly gained attention for blending alternative rock, electronic music, hip-hop, and comedy into a style that was uniquely his own.

He collaborated early in his career with artists including Skrillex and Zeds Dead before releasing the independent album Splitting Branches in 2013. After taking time away to study music technology, Tree returned with his major-label debut album, Ugly Is Beautiful, in 2020.
