Oppenheimer is, for all intents and purposes, a complete hit with moviegoers globally. So far, the film directed by Christopher Nolan has brought in nearly $100 million domestically and over $180 million worldwide.

Rotten Tomatoes gives the three-hour film a 94%, while its audience score comes in at 93%.

People love this movie and are enthralled by not just the life of theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, but also how his work led to the inception of nuclear weapons.

Long, but worth every minute

Even some of the most enthusiastic moviegoers may cringe at the notion of a three-hour film. However, Oppenheimer never ceases to deliver suspense or keep audiences captivated and curious about what will happen next.

Cillian Murphy's performance in the lead role also shows the many depths and layers of Oppenheimer's character, passion for knowledge, and devotion to his work.

Outside of the significant part he played in the Manhattan Project, viewers will find themselves intrigued by Oppenheimer's personal relationships, his communist leanings, and other factors that truly dive into the character's humanity.

Viewers will bare witness to not just Oppenheimer's rise to fame, but also his fall from grace. Betrayals, political rivalries, and more play significant roles in the experiences faced by the theoretical physicist, even after the gains he made in nuclear development.

Barbenheimer

Oppenheimer arrived in theaters on July 21, just like the new hit movie Barbie.

Subsequently, many moviegoers began purchasing tickets to see the two films on the same day. Even the lead actors in both Oppenheimer and Barbie confirmed they'd be watching the opposite film in which they're not starred.

Barbenheimer has taken the internet by storm, with shirts, hats, and other merchandise being sold in honor of it. Likewise, people are posting side-by-side photos of themselves on social media, with one in pink and the other in black and white, to pay homage to Barbenheimer.

So far, Barbie has brought in more money than Oppenheimer. Yet, both of these films, by any standard, have far surpassed the success threshold.

Amid the Barbenheimer craze, Cillian Murphy also revealed his openness to playing a Ken doll in a potential Barbie 2 film.
