Paul Pelosi, the husband of former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, is facing renewed public scrutiny after authorities' report he is facing a misdemeanor charge. Pelosi, 86 was in an alleged hit-and-run accident involving a parked Tesla in California's Napa Valley.

The incident occurred Friday afternoon in Yountville, where investigators say Pelosi's convertible struck an unoccupied electric vehicle before leaving the scene.

Newly released photographs show extensive damage to the Tesla, with the owner expected to face potentially costly repairs. The Napa County Sheriff's Office said no injuries were reported, and deputies later located Pelosi's vehicle a short distance from where the collision occurred.

The photographs reveal significant damage to the Tesla's rear driver's-side quarter panel. The impact crushed part of the vehicle's body, leaving deep dents, scrape marks, torn bumper panels, and debris scattered across the roadway.

Investigators also observed what appeared to be brown paint transfer on the damaged sections of the Tesla, consistent with the reported collision involving Pelosi's brown convertible.

Tesla vehicles can be particularly expensive to repair because many body panels house cameras, sensors and other electronic equipment used by the company's advanced driver-assistance systems, including Autopilot and Full Self-Driving features.

Damage to these components often requires specialized repairs and recalibration in addition to body work.

Investigators at Work in Paul Pelosi Collision

According to the Napa County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded around 2:30 p.m. Friday to reports of a collision involving a parked vehicle on the 6700 block of Yount Street in Yountville.

Authorities said a witness reported seeing a brown convertible strike the parked, unoccupied Tesla. According to investigators, the driver briefly stopped but then left the scene before exchanging information with the vehicle's owner or contacting law enforcement.

Later that afternoon, deputies located a damaged brown convertible blocking Yountville Cross Road, approximately one-quarter mile from the original crash scene. Authorities identified the driver as Paul Pelosi.

The sheriff's office said deputies determined Pelosi was not under the influence of alcohol at the time they made contact with him.

Because the crash did not result in injuries, investigators did not arrest Pelosi at the scene. Instead, they submitted a recommendation that prosecutors consider filing a misdemeanor charge for leaving the scene of a property-damage collision.
