A 33-year-old man was taken into custody after Chico police located a vehicle reported stolen out of Redding, authorities said.

According to the Chico Police Department, officers were notified at approximately 11:45 p.m. on April 6, 2026, after a caller reported that an individual had admitted to driving a stolen vehicle to a security guard at Enloe Hospital. The caller provided a detailed description of the suspect, the vehicle, its license plate, and the direction it was headed. Using that information, officers determined the car matched one reported stolen in Redding on April 1, 2026.

At about 12:07 a.m., officers spotted the vehicle parked in a lot near West Third Street and Walnut Street. After confirming the license plate, police conducted a high-risk stop but found no one inside the car.

While securing the scene, officers observed a man matching the earlier description standing inside a nearby business. Police entered the establishment, identified the individual as Jade Cole, 33, and detained him without incident.

Authorities said Cole later admitted to taking the vehicle. He was arrested and booked into the Butte County Jail on a felony charge.
