On Friday evening, President Trump blasted Democrats who filed a lawsuit against several members of 2016's Trump Presidential campaign, reports Fox News.

An Overview of the Lawsuit and President Trump's Tweet

The Democratic National Committee filed their civil lawsuit in a Manhattan federal district court on Friday. The aforementioned suit alleges that members of the Trump campaign unlawfully conspired to take down then-opponent Hillary Clinton by colluding with a Russian "military spy agency." Jared Kushner, Paul Manafort, Rick Gates, and other members of the Trump campaign were named in the lawsuit.

"The conspiracy constituted an act of previously unimaginable treachery: the campaign of the presidential nominee of a major party in league with a hostile foreign power to bolster its own chance to win the Presidency," alleged the DNC's lawsuit.

Like President Trump, many Americans view the foregoing suit as a mere case of sour grapes. The U.S. government is still investigating claims that the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to win the 2016 election. Thus far, no substantial evidence of Trump collusion has surfaced. Conservatives and other backers of the President have moreover dismissed the Russia probe as a waste of taxpayer money.

The DNC is also claiming that Wikileaks founder Julian Assange employed his platform as a means of hurting the Clinton campaign.

What Do Americans Think of the Lawsuit?

Like most political events, Americans on both sides of the aisle have not hesitated to weigh in. Opinions regarding the DNC's lawsuit vary. Most conservatives expressed opposition to the suit; conversely, the majority of Democrats are supportive of it.

Many left-leaning Americans continue to maintain that President Trump and his campaign won the 2016 election illegally. However, right-wingers have controverted assertions of wrongdoing on the President's end. Conservatives, like President Trump, frequently brand claims of collusion with Russia as a "witch hunt."

Regardless of individual partisanship, the DNC's lawsuit has increased the conversations which currently surround American politics.
