In late October, North Carolina resident Shanquella Robinson, 25, traveled to Cabo, Mexico for a birthday party, with a group of people she considered her friends. Within reportedly 24 hours of her arrival, Robinson lost her life.
The tragedy of Robinson’s death
The group that Robinson traveled with initially contacted her mother after her passing to claim she died of alcohol poisoning. Although a disturbing video later appeared online that seems to prove otherwise.
In the viral footage on social media, Robinson is in a villa, beaten without any clothes on. Meanwhile, the individuals who are supposed to be her friends were watching the incident, refusing to step in. One of them even asked Robinson to “fight back” amid the beating.
As things currently stand, the FBI and officials in Mexico are working to get to the bottom of this. An autopsy report claims that Robinson died from a fractured neck and damage to her spinal cord, not alcohol poisoning.
Thus far, an active arrest warrant in Mexico now stands for one of the individuals involved in Robinson’s death. Mexico is likewise now pressing for extradition of this same individual.
