The long-standing creative partnership between Seth Rogen and James Franco remains firmly in the past. In a recent interview with The New York Times, Rogen reiterated that he has not spoken to his former collaborator in years and has no intention of working with him again.

When pressed about the current state of their relationship, Rogen maintained a reserved stance, citing the complexity of the situation. "I honestly think the nuance of it is too personal for me to get into right now," he stated. He emphasized that his professional choices speak for themselves: "I have not worked with him in years."

A Decades-Long Partnership

Rogen and Franco first rose to prominence together on the cult classic series Freaks and Geeks. That initial connection blossomed into a prolific Hollywood partnership, resulting in iconic comedies such as Pineapple Express, This Is the End, and Sausage Party. Their final project together was the 2017 film The Disaster Artist, which earned Franco a Golden Globe.

The Turning Point

The trajectory of their partnership shifted in 2018. Shortly after Franco wore a "Time's Up" pin at the Golden Globes in solidarity with the #MeToo movement, five women came forward with allegations of sexual misconduct against him. Two of those women, former students of Franco's acting school, Studio 4, pursued a lawsuit that was eventually settled in 2021.

Following these allegations, Rogen distanced himself publicly. In a 2021 interview with The London Times, Rogen stated, "I despise abuse and harassment," and confirmed he had no plans to work with Franco again.

Diverging Paths

The divide between the two has become increasingly apparent over time. In 2024, Franco publicly addressed the dissolution of their friendship, noting that he had reached out to Rogen without success. "I haven’t talked to Seth. I love Seth, we had 20 great years together, but I guess it’s over," Franco said.

When asked about Franco’s comments in a 2025 Esquire interview, Rogen appeared largely disengaged from the discourse. He admitted to consuming very little media and noted that Franco’s public remarks had not been on his radar, choosing to leave the topic largely untouched.
