“There Is Nothing They Can Do About It” Trump Declares After U.S. Strikes Iran’s Strategic Kharg Island

By Samuel A. Lopez | USA Herald - When President Donald J. Trump declared on Truth Social that “There is nothing they can do about it,” he was not merely issuing a boastful wartime statement. The remark came after a massive U.S. military strike targeting Iran’s most strategically valuable energy hub—Kharg Island—and it signals a deeper geopolitical calculation by Washington.

According to Trump, the operation conducted by United States Central Command “executed one of the most powerful bombing raids in the History of the Middle East” and destroyed every military target on the island while deliberately sparing the oil infrastructure.

That distinction is not a minor detail. It may be the most strategically important aspect of the entire operation.

Kharg Island is widely considered the crown jewel of Iran’s petroleum export system. Located in the northern Persian Gulf, the island historically handles the majority of Iran’s crude oil shipments to global markets. In simple terms, it is the artery through which Iran converts its natural resources into geopolitical power.

Destroying the military installations there weakens Iran’s defensive posture in the region. Destroying the oil infrastructure, however, would trigger an entirely different set of consequences.

Washington appears to have chosen a more precise strategy.

By targeting Iranian military capabilities while leaving the oil export facilities intact, the United States gained three strategic advantages simultaneously.

First, the strike demonstrates overwhelming military dominance without triggering a catastrophic energy shock that would destabilize global markets overnight. The world’s energy system remains highly sensitive to disruptions in the Persian Gulf, particularly near the Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply typically passes.

If the oil infrastructure on Kharg Island had been obliterated, energy markets could have reacted violently, potentially pushing global oil prices into crisis territory and harming U.S. allies as much as Iran.

Instead, the United States delivered a calibrated message.

The infrastructure remains intact—for now.

But Trump’s warning was unmistakable. Should Iran attempt to interfere with the “Free and Safe Passage of Ships through the Strait of Hormuz,” he said, that restraint could disappear immediately.

That threat carries enormous leverage.

In effect, the United States now holds a strategic pressure point over Iran’s economy without having yet detonated it.

Second, the strike sends a clear signal to Tehran that American forces can penetrate Iranian defenses at will. Trump’s claim that “Iran has NO ability to defend anything that we want to attack” may sound provocative, but recent battlefield footage suggests the United States currently enjoys overwhelming air superiority.

Unclassified videos circulating publicly show U.S. precision strikes destroying runways, aircraft infrastructure, and military installations with little apparent resistance. Entire airstrips have reportedly been rendered inoperable within minutes.

If those capabilities continue to hold, Iran’s military deterrence model—which relies heavily on missile forces, proxy militias, and asymmetric naval tactics—faces a severe challenge.

The third strategic benefit is psychological.

Modern warfare is not fought solely on the battlefield. It is also fought in the minds of adversaries and global audiences. When the United States demonstrates that it can strike the heart of Iran’s energy infrastructure while choosing not to destroy it, the message becomes unmistakable: escalation remains a choice.

And Washington controls the dial.

Yet beyond the immediate battlefield implications, the strike raises another intriguing question that has increasingly entered the public conversation.

If the United States truly possesses the most advanced weaponry in the world—as Trump repeatedly claims—why does modern warfare still look so familiar?

Despite decades of classified research into directed-energy systems, space-based defense platforms, and other advanced technologies, the war in Iran appears to be fought largely with the same tools that have dominated conflicts for generations.

Jets launch bombs.

Ships launch missiles.

Soldiers fire bullets.

There are no visible time-bending spacecraft hovering over battlefields. No exotic weapons that instantly disable enemy forces without destruction. No science-fiction technologies rendering armies harmless through invisible energy fields.

Instead, the images emerging from the conflict resemble footage from conflicts stretching back to the twentieth century.

Bombs fall. Buildings collapse. Airfields burn.

This reality raises an interesting possibility.

Perhaps the most advanced weapons systems the United States possesses remain far from the public battlefield.

Recent reporting and government directives have fueled speculation about technologies that could reshape the future of warfare. Trump himself has spoken publicly about laser weapons capable of replacing traditional missile defense systems. Programs like the proposed Golden Dome concept have hinted at expanded space-based defensive networks designed to intercept threats originating beyond Earth.

At the same time, the administration has issued directives related to the release of classified information surrounding unidentified aerial phenomena—commonly referred to as UFOs—raising broader questions about technological capabilities that may not yet be fully understood by the public.

Adding another layer of intrigue, filmmaker Steven Spielberg is preparing to release a new movie titled Disclosure Day, which reportedly centers on the global implications of revealing extraterrestrial intelligence.

While the film industry and military strategy rarely intersect directly, the timing has sparked curiosity among observers who see a growing cultural conversation surrounding advanced technologies and possible disclosure events.

For now, however, the battlefield reality remains grounded in conventional warfare.

The United States has demonstrated overwhelming force against Iranian military targets, but it has done so using tools that—while incredibly sophisticated—are still recognizable within the framework of modern military doctrine.

Kharg Island stands as a symbol of that strategy.

The United States destroyed the island’s defenses but spared its economic lifeline.

That decision preserves global energy stability, maintains pressure on Tehran, and keeps one of the most powerful strategic cards in Washington’s hand.

If Iran attempts to close or threaten the Strait of Hormuz, the next move could change everything.

Until then, the message from Washington remains clear.

The United States can reach the center of Iran’s strategic infrastructure whenever it chooses.

And according to the president, there is nothing Iran can do about it.
