The public has gotten its first glimpse of Todd and Julie Chrisley since their release from prison. The couple returned home following a full presidential pardon by Donald Trump.

Their daughter, Savannah Chrisley shared the emotional reunion on Instagram, capturing the couple’s first moments of freedom and the family's joy after months of advocacy and legal efforts.

On Wednesday, May 28, Savannah Chrisley posted videos to her Instagram 

Stories documenting the moment she picked up her father, Todd Chrisley, from FPC Pensacola in Florida. Her brother, Grayson, retrieved their mother, Julie Chrisley, from FMC Lexington in Kentucky. The footage marked the couple’s first public appearance since their incarceration for tax evasion and bank fraud.

In the video, Savannah is seen filming Todd sitting in the back seat of a car.

While keeping his face off-camera, she jokingly asks, “What are you trying to get me to do?” Todd responds, “Feel that muscle,” prompting Savannah to feel his bicep and exclaim, “Oh yeah, feel the muscle! I’m not gonna lie, it’s hard.”

A Presidential Pardon from Trump

The Chrisley's’ release came one day after President Donald Trump announced a full pardon for the couple. PEOPLE confirmed the decision, which stunned fans and supporters alike.

Speaking on a call with the couple’s children, Trump remarked, “It’s a terrible thing, but it’s a great thing, because your parents are going to be free and clean.” He added, “I don’t know them, but give them my regards and wish them good luck.”

Savannah reacted with overwhelming emotion. “I will forever be grateful for President Trump, his administration, and everyone along the way,” she said on Instagram Live, calling the moment “the answer to countless prayers.”

Chrisley Kids Reflect on Their Parents' Release

Savannah, who has been a vocal advocate for her parents throughout their legal battle, described the emotional toll in a statement on May 28.

“For the past two and a half years, I’ve done everything in my power to fight for my parents’ freedom and bring them home,” she said.

“Today is a victory for our family, but the fight against wrongful convictions and injustice within our prison system is far from over.”

She continued, “Family is everything to me, and I will never stop fighting for what is right.”

In a separate clip, Savannah, wearing a “Make America Great Again” hat, quipped about feeling nauseous on the car ride, joking, “I’ve got Todd over here being dramatic.” Todd replied, “I can smell it … I didn’t have to deal with this in prison.”

From Scandal to a New Chapter on TV

The Chrisley's were convicted in 2022 and began serving a combined 19-year sentence in January 2023. Their prison terms were later reduced before their full pardon was granted.

Now, the family is preparing to return to reality television. They confirmed a new Lifetime docuseries is in production, promising to showcase the “raw truth” of their lives post-prison.

Julie Chrisley also made her first public appearance since her release, seen out and about in Nashville on May 30, marking yet another symbolic step toward normalcy for the embattled couple.

The Chrisley saga continues to capture national attention as the family emerges from scandal and incarceration with renewed focus — and a return to reality TV on the horizon.
