President Donald Trump and billionaire entrepreneur Mark Cuban put their long-running “love-hate” relationship on display during a White House event promoting TrumpRX, a new initiative aimed at lowering prescription drug costs for Americans.

According to Trump, the TrumpRX platform is designed to help Americans compare and purchase lower-cost prescription medications from multiple providers.

The president announced that more than 600 generic medications are being added to the website through partnerships with Cuban’s Cost Plus Drugs, along with Amazon Pharmacy and GoodRx.

“By incorporating this massive catalog of low-cost generics at TrumpRx.gov, consumers will now have one source to ensure that they’re getting the lowest possible cost on their prescription,” Trump said during the event.

The initiative aims to provide transparency in prescription pricing while giving consumers alternatives to traditional insurance-driven pharmacy systems.

Cuban Says TrumpRX Is a Nonpartisan Issue

Cuban repeatedly stressed that lowering healthcare costs should not be viewed through a political lens.

“The goal is to reduce the cost of healthcare,” he said. “Republicans, Democrats, Independents — everybody wants healthcare costs to go down.”

Cuban founded Cost Plus Drugs in 2022 as part of an effort to make prescription medications more affordable. The company bypasses many traditional insurance middlemen by selling medications directly to consumers with a fixed markup and transparent pricing structure.

The company publicly lists what it pays manufacturers for medications, adding a 15% markup along with pharmacy labor and shipping costs. Cuban has argued that the model helps expose inefficiencies and inflated pricing within the pharmaceutical industry.

Although Cuban has occasionally been mentioned as a possible political candidate in past election cycles, he firmly rejected the idea of running for office during the White House event.

Standing outside the West Wing in sweltering 92-degree temperatures, Cuban laughed when asked whether he would ever consider a presidential campaign.

“Hell no,” Cuban replied. “Too hot.”

Instead, Cuban said he plans to remain focused on healthcare reform and expanding affordable prescription drug access.

“I’ll align with anyone,” he said. “If you’re going to make healthcare cheaper, you’re my new best friend.”
