At the time of writing this article, the state of Florida has 93% of votes reported with over half going to Donald Trump, where Trump managed to generate over 500,000 in Miami Dade County, a traditional Democratic stronghold, according to New York Times polling data. The Times forecasts that Trump has a 95% chance to win Florida.

In general, Florida is a sort of weather bell to determine the trajectory of the presidential election. Initially, Florida’s metropolitan areas reported a surge of blue votes. This lead soon turned to a neck and neck countdown with the majority of the Florida panhandle sticking with Trump. Pinellas County, i.e. Tampa, also has proved to be a razor’s edge contest so far.

What does this tell us?

For one, it shows there is no shortage of Trump supporters in Florida as well as other states he has claimed such as Kentucky and Tennessee, which were expected to vote for Trump over Biden. Georgia is proving to be strong for Trump but a large portion of Biden strongholds have yet to be counted.
