Truth Social, the social media platform co-founded by President Donald Trump, is setting its sights on the artificial intelligence industry.

In a move announced Wednesday, Trump Media & Technology Group has filed trademark applications for “Truth Social AI” and “Truth Social AI Search,” indicating plans to integrate AI tools into the platform.

Trump Media Applies for Truth Social AI Trademarks

While few specifics were disclosed, the filings suggest Trump Media is exploring ways to boost revenue and engagement through emerging technologies.

The platform, a central part of Trump’s digital brand, may be positioning itself to compete with AI-driven platforms and tools already offered by rivals like Meta and Elon Musk’s xAI.

“We expect to incur significant expenses and operating losses for the foreseeable future as we build and grow our streaming and infrastructure operations,” the company acknowledged in its quarterly report.

Trump Media Struggles to Generate Sustainable Revenue

Despite its $5 billion market capitalization and ticker symbol DJT, the financials behind Trump Media tell a more sobering story.

In 2024, the company posted a net loss of $400.9 million with only $3.6 million in revenue. That translates to a sales ratio of 1,100-to-1—far above Meta’s ratio of under 11-to-1.

Most of the company’s revenue comes from advertisements on Truth Social, with more than 90% of that coming from a single client. Efforts to diversify revenue streams through Truth+ streaming and financial ventures are still in early stages and have yet to show substantial returns.

AI, Crypto, and Finance Ventures

Truth Social AI is just one of several bold ventures by Trump Media. In April, the company launched Truth Social-branded Separately Managed Accounts—portfolios focused on “non-woke” equities, managed by Yorkville America Equities and Index Technologies Group.

In addition, Trump Media has filed to create a cryptocurrency exchange-traded fund and announced plans to acquire $2.3 billion in Bitcoin to establish a “Bitcoin treasury.”

“Since Donald Trump became president, his family’s corporate empire has continued to expand in a multitude of different directions,” reported Gizmodo.

The Road Ahead for Truth Social

As Trump Media looks to AI to reignite investor interest, it faces an uphill battle. With limited revenue and rising losses, the company must demonstrate that its AI and crypto ventures can deliver meaningful financial results, not just brand buzz.
