“You’re Killing Me” is one of Acorn TV’s newest mystery series, blending murder investigations, humor, and small-town intrigue into a six-episode limited event. Starring Brooke Shields, the series follows an unlikely partnership that forms after a shocking murder rocks a seemingly peaceful New England community.

The show premiered on May 18, 2026, and quickly became one of Acorn TV’s most talked-about original productions.

A Mystery Fueled by Unlikely Partnerships

The story centers on bestselling mystery novelist Allison Chandler, played by Brooke Shields, who becomes involved in a real-life murder investigation after a close friend is found dead.

She joins forces with aspiring writer and true-crime podcaster Andrea Walker, portrayed by Amalia Williamson, to uncover the truth behind the killing. Their investigation soon brings them into conflict—and eventual cooperation—with local detective Jack Kerrigan, played by Tom Cavanagh.

Set in the fictional town of Founders’ Cove, the series embraces the growing popularity of “cozy mysteries,” combining murder investigations with witty dialogue, quirky characters, and picturesque surroundings.

Brooke Shields Leads a Strong Ensemble Castin You're Killing Me

Shields not only stars in the series but also serves as an executive producer. The role marks another significant chapter in her long television and film career. According to interviews promoting the show, Shields was heavily involved in shaping the series and even pushed for the title “You’re Killing Me” after executives initially considered naming it “Allie and Andi.” She argued that the final title better captured both the mystery element and the comedic tone of the show.

The cast is rounded out by Tom Cavanagh, known for his work on The Flash, and Amalia Williamson, who brings youthful energy to the role of the ambitious podcaster. Together, the trio creates a dynamic that balances generational differences with a shared determination to solve crimes.

Why You're Killing Me Is Drawing Attention

One of the show’s biggest strengths is its blend of humor and suspense. Rather than focusing solely on dark subject matter, “You’re Killing Me” delivers mysteries with a lighter touch, making it accessible to a broad audience.

The series also capitalizes on the enduring appeal of small-town mysteries, where hidden secrets lurk beneath charming exteriors. Critics and viewers have noted the chemistry between the lead actors as a major reason to tune in.

In addition to attracting viewers upon its debut, the series became a major success for Acorn TV. The streaming service announced that “You’re Killing Me” delivered record-breaking subscriber acquisition and viewership numbers, leading to a renewal announcement shortly after its launch.
