Artificial intelligence (AI) is an inevitability in the modern world. Already, it's impacting how various industries conduct business and manage their day-to-day operations. AI exists not just in the workforce, but also in people's homes, as seen by the use of programs like Alexa.

Despite the rise of AI, it's not without controversy. Some people fear that AI will have negative impacts on society or spiral out of control. However, proponents of AI maintain that with the proper regulations and safeguards, the technology can actually improve people's lives.

For better or for worse, AI is here to stay. One of the latest industries it's beginning to take by storm is none other than the online dating market.

Tinder and AI unite

Traditionally, Tinder users have been responsible for setting up their own profiles, selecting the most appealing images, and letting other users on the platform know more about themselves.

However, AI is changing this. Very soon, Tinder users will have the option of letting AI determine which photos are best for their dating profiles on the site.

MatchGroup, the company that owns Tinder, released a public statement about how this new change will impact the company and its users going ahead.

According to MatchGroup CEO Bernard Kim, AI will assist users with not just putting together more attractive profiles, but also communicating their personalities to others in a more effective manner.

So far, the technology that allows AI to pick out users' photos is still undergoing testing. However, once it's put into effect, Tinder is also expected to consider other ways to put AI to work on the platform.

Some additional responsibilities that AI could take up on Tinder include writing the bios of users based on their individual passions and what they want to achieve from being on the site.

Other dating sites could follow suit

If the collaboration between Tinder and AI renders success, other dating apps (such as Bumble, Hinge, Match, etc.) may feel inclined to also go this route.

So far, Tinder’s 2023 Future of Dating Report reveals that just over one-third of Gen Z folks on the site expressed their willingness to let AI touch up their profiles.
