With only days before Election Day, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump held competing rallies Friday night, just a few miles apart in Wisconsin’s largest city. With recent polls showing a neck-and-neck race, both candidates made their final stops in this crucial battleground state.

Harris Pushes for Last-Minute Votes

At the Wisconsin State Fair Park Exposition Center in West Allis, Harris addressed an energized crowd of over 12,000 supporters. "We got four days to get this thing done," she urged. "For those who haven’t voted yet, no judgment, but please get to it when you can."

Harris emphasized that winning Wisconsin requires a strong turnout in Milwaukee and the surrounding suburbs. This turnout, she explained, would help counter the expected Republican support in rural areas.

Trump Rallies His Base

Meanwhile, Trump held his rally at Milwaukee’s Fiserv Forum, the same site where he accepted his party’s nomination in July. "I want your damn vote," he told his supporters, rallying them with his usual directness.

Trump’s efforts come amid a surge in his popularity with key voter groups. He recently gained support from Black celebrities, highlighting his growing appeal across diverse groups.

In addition, popular rapper Cardi B opened for Harris, sharing that she hadn’t planned to vote until Harris replaced President Biden on the Democratic ticket in July. "Kamala Harris joining the race changed my mind completely," she told the crowd.

High Stakes in Wisconsin

These dueling rallies marked the final Wisconsin stops for both candidates, capping a busy week of campaign events in the state. According to Mordecai Lee, professor emeritus at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, "As of this weekend, the way to predict the winner is to flip a coin. It’s that close."

Historically, Wisconsin, along with Michigan and Pennsylvania, forms the Democrats' "blue wall." Democrats had won all three states consistently until Trump narrowly flipped them in 2016. However, President Biden recaptured these states in 2020, winning Wisconsin by just over 20,000 votes.

Final Push Across Wisconsin

In these closing days, both parties’ vice presidential nominees, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz and Sen. JD Vance of Ohio, have made multiple stops in Wisconsin. High-profile supporters, including former Presidents Obama and Clinton for Harris, have also campaigned here. In fact, Obama is set to return on Sunday.

With both campaigns flooding Wisconsin’s airwaves with ads, the race remains incredibly tight. Wisconsin voters will play a key role on November 5 as they decide which party will claim victory.
