This $1B pledge from Brookfield comes as the aviation industry seeks alternatives to traditional jet fuel to meet sustainability goals. Infinium’s electrofuels, also known as eFuels, are synthetic fuels produced using renewable power and waste carbon dioxide. Unlike conventional petroleum-based fuels, these electrofuels can be used in current transportation infrastructure, including planes, trucks, and ships, while significantly reducing carbon emissions.

Infinium’s expansion aligns with growing demand for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF), and the funding from Brookfield follows a significant milestone in 2023. Last year, Infinium secured an offtake agreement with American Airlines to supply synthetic aviation fuel (eSAF) from Project Roadrunner starting in 2026.

“Brookfield is a tremendous partner, and we are thrilled to secure this additional capital as we scale eSAF production to meet the overwhelming demand from the aviation industry,” said Infinium CEO Robert Schuetzle.
