WASHINGTON - The Pentagon’s sixth tranche of files related to Alien and Extraterrestrial Life, Unidentified Aerial Phenomena (UAP), and Unidentified Flying Objects (UFOS), has generated a lot of headlines over warp drives, wormholes and exotic physics. But a USA Herald review finds some of the most extraordinary material buried deeper inside the files—and some of it raises questions considerably stranger than whether faster-than-light travel might someday be possible.

Release 06, published September 18, contains 72 records—56 documents, 15 videos and one audio recording—spanning material from 1952 through 2025. A major portion consists of Defense Intelligence Reference Documents produced through the Defense Intelligence Agency’s Advanced Aerospace Weapon System Applications Program, or AAWSAP.

Their presence in a government UAP archive does not mean the Pentagon proved these technologies exist. But what the government chose to study—and what military personnel are now being asked to document—is remarkable.

A Pentagon Paper Considered Tunneling Into the Moon

One of the strangest documents is DOW-UAP-D152, Negative Mass Propulsion.

The 2011 DIA paper investigates the theoretical possibility of negative mass and whether it could reduce the enormous energy requirements associated with advanced space propulsion. But buried near the end are sections carrying surprising titles:

“Searching for Negative Matter in the Gravitational Potential Well of the Moon”

and

“Making a Tunnel through the Moon.”

The paper examines whether negative matter might accumulate within deep gravitational wells and considers the Moon as a potential location.

It then goes considerably further.

The study calculates a hypothetical method for excavating enormous quantities of lunar material using an explosive yield on the order of 50 megatons—thermonuclear-bomb territory—as part of a theoretical search for negative matter.

And then there’s this.

Six Spheres Moving Together Over the Middle East

Perhaps more significant, is DOW-UAP-D108 because it concerns an actual military encounter.

During a July 29, 2025 Operation Inherent Resolve mission, a U.S. military crew reported:

“6X SMALL SPHERICAL OBJECTS GROUPED TOGETHER.”

The objects were estimated at approximately 22,000 feet and 480 mph. The crew described them as appearing agile and frequently changing direction. The report indicates their movements could occur quickly and simultaneously.

Another part of the document may be even more revealing.

The military reporting system asks personnel whether a UAP appears to demonstrate propulsion, intelligent control, advanced capabilities or materials, radio-frequency signatures, effects on people, effects on equipment, recovered objects or materials, and other characteristics.

For this encounter, intelligent control and propulsion were recorded as UNKNOWN, while recovered material was marked NO.

That tells us something important that blurry UAP videos cannot.

The U.S. military has developed an intelligence-collection framework specifically designed to ask whether unidentified objects or UAP exhibit characteristics potentially associated with advanced technology.

DIA Studied Controlling Machines With the Human Brain

Another overlooked document, DOW-UAP-D130, examines Technological Approaches to Controlling External Devices in the Absence of Limb-Operated Interfaces.

In plain English - controlling machines without using your hands.

The DIA study examined brain-machine interfaces capable of translating neural or physiological activity into commands, including EEG-based systems and implanted cortical interfaces.

The paper describes the ultimate objective as integrating human intention with computer-controlled action without requiring the normal electromechanical controls between them.

Placed alongside other AAWSAP studies involving breakthrough-flight cockpits and control of multiple spacecraft, the documents reveal that the program was not confined to asking how an exotic vehicle might move.

Researchers were also considering how humans might operate advanced systems if conventional controls became inadequate.

Human Biological Effects Were Part of the Research

DOW-UAP-D128 carries another startling title:

“Anomalous Acute and Subacute Field Effects on Human Biological Tissues.”

The March 2010 DIA document was produced under the same AAWSAP advanced-technology program and investigated biological effects potentially associated with unusual electromagnetic or field exposure.

That doesn’t necessarily mean the Pentagon established that extraterrestrial life or spacecraft injured people. The more important question is why analysis of anomalous human biological injuries became part of an advanced aerospace intelligence program in the first place.

From Warp Drives to Actually Measuring Negative Energy

DOW-UAP-D153 provides another important piece.

Rather than merely theorizing about negative energy, “Quantum Tomography of Negative Energy States in the Vacuum” examines how extremely small negative-energy states might potentially be detected and characterized experimentally. The document was among the AAWSAP DIRDs formally released in Release 06.

Story Hidden Inside Release 06

Viewed individually, these papers can look like an assortment of speculative scientific studies.

Viewed together, something more interesting emerges from the documents USA Herald reviewed.

The government spent a lot of time and money examining exotic propulsion, negative mass, negative energy, dark energy, advanced aerospace materials, unconventional human-machine interfaces, biological field effects and other technologies associated with radically different aerospace systems.

Years later, modern military UAP reports are asking personnel whether unidentified objects demonstrate intelligent control, propulsion, advanced capabilities, effects on humans or equipment, or recoverable material.

Those facts do not establish that the United States possesses extraterrestrial technology—or that the AAWSAP studies resulted from recovered non-human craft.

But they create a question that deserves considerably more investigation:

Was AAWSAP simply exploring the outer limits of theoretical science, or did intelligence officials have a particular reason for assembling these subjects under one advanced aerospace research program?

Release 06 does not answer that question.

It does, however, show that the real story buried inside the Pentagon’s UAP files may be considerably larger than warp drives.
