What Cerence Wants

Cerence is asking the court for an injunction barring Apple from further use of its patented technologies. It is also seeking damages and an order requiring Apple to pay an ongoing licensing fee.

Cerence is represented by attorneys Andrew Weiss, Daniel Kolko, James Tsuei, Marc Fenster, Paul Kroeger, Peter Tong, Shani Williams, and Benjamin Wang of Russ August & Kabat. Apple has not yet publicly identified its legal counsel in the matter.

A Familiar Front in Apple’s Wars

For Apple, patent litigation is nothing new — but Cerence’s complaint underscores how the battle over AI-driven text and voice technologies is heating up. With billions at stake in the race for control over digital interfaces, this case could mark another chapter in Silicon Valley’s long history of intellectual property showdowns.
