Files, Fallout and Historical Echoes
Bill Clinton’s name appears in documents and photographs recently released in phases by the U.S. Department of Justice as part of its disclosure of materials gathered during federal investigations into Epstein. The broader files illuminate Epstein’s connections with numerous high-profile figures, including after his earlier sex crime conviction.
As with others named in the records — including Trump — appearance in the documents does not suggest wrongdoing.
The Clintons’ depositions are being held in Chappaqua, New York, near their home. Such proceedings typically occur behind closed doors, but the former first couple pressed for their testimony to be made public to prevent selective leaks.
Members of both parties are expected to speak to reporters following Hillary Clinton’s deposition, scheduled for 11:00 a.m. EST (16:00 GMT).
Bill Clinton’s testimony Friday carries historical weight. It will mark the first time a former U.S. president has testified before a congressional panel since Gerald Ford did so in 1983 — a rare moment when politics, history and public accountability collide in real time.
