As tension in the House of Representatives rise, the GOP is now calling for the removal of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Mn) from her committees and projects.

Amid calls for Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga) to be removed from committees and assignments due to her alleged violent and conspiracy ideas, now, Rep Omar is now under a spotlight due to her alleged vicious, oppressive, and divisive rhetoric.

House GOP lawmakers seek to oust Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota from her committee assignments this week, as Democrats push for similar action against embattled Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.

House Republicans Brian Babin of Texas, Jeff Duncan of South Carolina, Jody Hice of Georgia, Andy Biggs of Arizona and Ronny Jackson of Texas sponsored a proposed amendment to remove Omar from committee, "in light of conduct she has exhibited,"FOX News first reported.

"Leftist Members of Congress have advocated for violence, anti-Semitism, anti-law enforcement, & other sentiments that have violated rules of decorum & principles of American decency," Biggs tweeted Wednesday. "That's why I'm calling for Rep Omar to be removed from her committee."

Babin claims several instances as evidence for Omar's removal from the House Foreign Affairs Committee, including her Feb. 2019 tweet “It’s all about the Benjamins baby.” This was Omar's response to a comment made by House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy about punishing Omar for being critical of Israel.

This is not the first time Rep Omar is facing a call for expulsion. Last year, Alabama GOP representatives at the state level passed a resolution to have her removed because of her behavior and rhetoric. State Rep Tommy Hanes (R-Bryant) came to the floor to make a case for his proposal.

“It’s just simply asking this body to ask the U.S. delegation, the Alabama delegation in Washington, D.C. to start proceedings to unseat Ilhan Omar, congresswoman from Minnesota,” Hanes said. “This woman is continuously spewing anti-American rhetoric, anti-Semitism. She is un-American. She came from a war-torn country in Somalia to seek protection under Lady Liberty’s hand.”

“Folks, she constantly talks about the U.S. military – I put the U.S. military here,” he continued, raising his right arm. “If it weren’t for the U.S. military, we wouldn’t be here today. I put them here, and she continuously talks down on our veterans. Folks, she continuously talks about one of our most faithful and loyal allies, which is Israel.”

“Let Alabama be first and let’s see how many other states follow,” Hanes added.

However, one man took Hanes’ proposal to another level.

“I would just like to say the lady is guilty of sedition and her ass needs to be kicked out,” an unidentified member of the state executive committee, who approached the microphone but wasn’t formally recognized, said shortly before passage.

One objection to Hanes’ amendment dealt with the concern that it would create “dangerous precedent” for future majorities in the U.S. House of Representatives to create a subjective basis to kick out a duly elected member of Congress. It seems the Democrats are not as concerned about setting this precedent and creating a congressional civil war.
