Singer-songwriter Sam Williams was reportedly placed under a conservatorship months after the death of his sister.  According to his YouTube plea for help, his dad and half-sister are now in control of his life. And he wants it back.

In the now-deleted video, Sam was seen holding up signs with messages asking for help getting out of the legally binding conservatorship.

Despite the fact that the original video was taken down several screenshots are still appearing online. The video can be seen on the Saving CountryMusic.com website. He also claimed, “I am in a conservatorship” on Twitter.

"I am ashamed of my family and embarrassed," one sign reads, "I am beyond done. I have my spirit back. Get. Me. Out. Please." 

According to Yahoo and TMZ the caption on the clip read, “I’ve been quite a long time now. I want out of this, and I don’t mind people knowing. They took my grief process, my spirit, my money, my car, my home, and everything possible in order to ‘protect me.’ Well, I need protection from them.”

The 24-year-old Sam Williams is the grandson of country music pioneer Hank Williams. And the youngest son of outlaw legend Hank Williams Jr. He comes from a long line of singer-songwriters. And his siblings are all in the music business.

Why is Sam Williams under a conservatorship?

In 2020 Sam’s 27-year-old sister, Katie Williams lost her life in a car accident in Tennessee. It is reported that Sam was deeply affected by her death. 

Within “5 months, Sam was placed in a conservatorship. And now he now "wants out."

In his video, Sam explains that he is ready to take control of his life back.

74-year-old Hank Williams Jr and Holly Williams are reportedly keeping the conservatorship going and not allowing Sam Williams to end it.

Court records reportedly show that Hank Jr filed a petition for an emergency conservatorship in August 2020 for his son Sam. However, all records are sealed, and the current status is unavailable.

Sam's social media calls for help came on February 1st. On Twitter someone noted that it was the anniversary of the day the Britney Spears conservatorship started in 2008. 

Sam responded by saying it was Britney Spears’ first February free. And “It's my second one not free.”

Britney’s conservatorship was dismantled in November 2021 after 13 years. Many in the #FreeBritney movement are leery of conservatorships. In Britney’s case her finances were savaged by her greedy father and lawyers. 

Sam has written 15 country songs. And he’s shared the stage with Keith Urban. Released a duet with Dolly Parton. He appears to be a working musician. And in most states' conservatorships are only for people that cannot take care of themselves.
