D4vd Murder Case Sparks Backlash as His Brother Launches Music Career

D4vd younger brother

The ongoing Celeste Rivas murder case involving D4vd has taken a new turn, not in the courtroom but online. Public outrage is building over his younger brother’s decision to launch a music career while the high-profile legal battle unfolds.

The controversy highlights how closely entertainment, social media, and true crime narratives can collide—and how quickly public sentiment can turn.

D4vd Faces Serious Charges

D4vd, whose legal name is David Burke, is currently being held in a Los Angeles detention facility, facing multiple felony charges. Prosecutors allege he is responsible for the death of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas, whose remains were discovered in September 2025.

The case has drawn national attention due to its disturbing details, including allegations of dismemberment and concealment of the body in a vehicle registered to the artist.

In addition to first-degree murder, D4vd faces charges related to child sexual abuse and mutilation of human remains. He has pleaded not guilty to all counts, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 26. He is being jailed in the Los Angeles detention center.

The severity of the accusations has already had professional consequences—he has been dropped by Interscope Records, effectively halting his music career for the foreseeable future.

Online Fury when D4vd Brother Launches Music Career

Amid the legal turmoil, D4vd’s younger brother, Caleb Burke, has entered the spotlight for an entirely different reason. Performing under the alias “Kova,” the 20-year-old has begun releasing original music centered on themes like relationships and intimacy.

His debut single, Imaginary Love, dropped just days before D4vd’s arrest, followed by another track titled Sx* shortly afterward. The timing of these releases has sparked intense backlash across platforms like X, where users have criticized the move as insensitive.

Some critics described the launch as “tone-deaf,” arguing that releasing music—especially songs with provocative themes—during such a serious and tragic case appears disconnected from the gravity of the situation.

Accusations of Exploitation in Murder Case

A recurring criticism online is that Caleb may be benefiting from the attention surrounding his brother’s case. Several users accused him of “capitalizing” on the widespread media coverage and public curiosity.

Comments ranged from frustration to outright condemnation, with some calling for broader accountability within the family. Others questioned why Caleb chose this moment, rather than an earlier or later time, to pursue a public music career.

The criticism reflects a broader ethical question: when a family member is at the center of a criminal case, what constitutes appropriate public behavior for relatives?

Divided Public Opinion in Murder Case

Not all reactions have been negative. A segment of social media users has defended Caleb Burke, emphasizing that he is an individual separate from his brother and should not be judged for alleged crimes he did not commit.

Supporters argue that:

  • He has the right to pursue his own career
  • His music is unrelated to the case
  • Guilt by association is unfair and harmful

This divide underscores the complexity of public perception in high-profile cases, where personal identity and family ties often become intertwined.

A Growing Digital Footprint

Caleb’s social media presence appears relatively new, with reports indicating that his accounts were created shortly before his music debut. Notably, his profiles make no mention of his brother or the ongoing case, even as he continues to post promotional content.

This deliberate separation may be an attempt to establish an independent identity, but critics argue it also avoids addressing the context that has brought heightened attention to his work.

D4vd Broader Implications

The intersection of the D4vd murder case and Caleb Burke’s emerging music career illustrates how modern media ecosystems amplify controversy. In an era where viral attention can shape careers overnight, timing and perception carry significant weight.

As the legal case proceeds, public scrutiny is unlikely to fade. Both the courtroom developments and the online discourse will continue to evolve, shaping not only the outcome of the case but also the reputations of those connected to it.
