According to a recent poll, only 46% of millennials would support Democrats over Republicans within their Congressional district. However, the aforementioned percentage marks a 9% decline from 2016. The poll moreover affirms that Democrats are overwhelming losing the backing of white Americans between the ages of 18 and 34.

The poll surveyed 16,000 millennials between the months of January and March 2018. Many Americans are furthermore speculating about how the aforementioned shift in Democratic support will impact this year’s upcoming midterm elections.

What Prompted the Shift in Millennial Support for Democrats?

Americans across the nation have various ideas and opinions regarding the Democrats and fluctuations of their backers and advocates. Some people have opined that Democratic policies and rhetoric are responsible for the somewhat declining support. Conservatives and right-leaning Americans have stated that the Democrats have become a party which publicly opposes and demonizes white people in the United States.
