On June 23, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump took to Truth Social, demanding clarity: Did Russia’s ex-president Dmitry Medvedev really say he’d supply nuclear warheads to Iran, or is it, as Trump wondered aloud, “just a figment of my imagination?” Trump’s post, which quickly went viral, not only spotlighted a surge of civilian journalist reporting across social media but also raised profound legal and geopolitical questions about the age of “citizen journalism.”

Recent TikTok videos and fringe news reports began circulating claims that Medvedev—long known for hawkish rhetoric and provocative public statements—had threatened to provide nuclear weapons to Iran. In these clips, Medvedev is depicted as cavalierly tossing around the “N word” (nuclear), reportedly suggesting that Russia and allied nations would arm Iran with nuclear warheads.

However, no mainstream news agency, Western intelligence body, or official Russian transcript has verified these claims as of this publication. Major outlets such as Reuters, BBC, and The Associated Press have not reported any such direct threat from Medvedev.
