Stine fired through Rougeau’s windshield, striking and fatally injuring him, as shared by Lt. Colonel George Givens.
The shooter managed to escape again, fleeing into Walker Township’s rural residential area.
“Our troopers put themselves in the line of fire to protect their fellow Pennsylvanians,” Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro said, ordering all Commonwealth flags to fly at half-staff in Rougeau’s honor.
The game of cat and mouse ended tragically when police cornered Stine, who had become trapped against a row of trees.
After another firefight, Stine was shot and killed, marking the end of what Lt. Colonel Givens described as one of the most intense gunfights he had ever witnessed.
