Many of Patterson’s books have been adapted into films, and he has some strong opinions about the industry.
He believes Hollywood is driven by three motivations: fear of failure, indifference, and the desire for continuous improvement.

A Power Tool for Writers
For Patterson, Substack represents a “power tool” for writers. “I don’t like the word empower, so I won’t use empower,” he said, “But it’s kind of a power tool for writers, where there’s nobody between you and the audience.”
He appreciates the creative freedom that the platform provides, allowing him to publish content without restrictions.
Patterson’s Substack will also feature a two-part interview with former President Bill Clinton, showcasing the variety of content he plans to offer.
