This new Joker sequel is furthermore expected to take place in Arkham Asylum, where Phoenix’s Joker ended up at the end of 2019’s film. Folie à Deux, which translates to “madness shared by two,” also indicates that both Phoenix’s Joker and Gaga’s Quinn could end up wreaking havoc throughout the movie’s plot.
Director Todd Phillips is returning for the sequel to 2019’s Joker. He also co-wrote Folie à Deux and shared the teaser photo of what looks to be Gaga’s Harley Quinn staring at Phoenix’s Joker in apparent shock.

In early December 2022, Phillips shared an image of the Joker in next year’s sequel. This showed the character appearing somewhat comatose with his head back. Viewers also saw shaving cream on his face, with one of Arkham Asylum’s employees doing the grooming for him.
On social media, many people exhibited excitement over the latest updates for Folie à Deux. If this film does as well as anticipated, a third movie could very well arrive in theaters before 2030.
