In a post shared on X, Melania Trump condemned the statement, arguing that voices like Kimmel’s should not be given a platform.

She added that the monologue “isn’t comedy,” describing the language as corrosive and warning that it deepens political division across the country. The first lady questioned how long network leadership would tolerate what she called “atrocious behavior.”

Trump and officials join criticism

Donald Trump echoed the outrage in a post on Truth Social, stating that many Americans were “incensed” by the remarks and characterizing them as a “call to violence.” He called for immediate action against Kimmel, urging The Walt Disney Company, which owns ABC, to remove the host from the air.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also criticized the comments during a Monday news conference, calling such rhetoric “completely deranged” when directed at the president, first lady, and their supporters.

The controversy intensified after the shooting at the Washington Hilton, where a suspect identified as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen allegedly opened fire near a security checkpoint. Both Donald and Melania Trump were evacuated safely. The former president later described the incident as “a rather traumatic experience” for his wife.
