“The quick thinking of the victim to contact police once she realized this dangerous situation was unfolding prevented a much worse outcome,” Royal Oak Police Chief Michael Moore said in a statement. “As a result, the officers immediately located the suspect and took him into custody.”
Smith’s mugshot matches the photo on a LinkedIn profile for a personal injury attorney of the same name in Dearborn, Michigan, who is listed as working at the law firm Anthony Paulovich & Worrall.
The firm did not immediately respond to a request for comment late Wednesday, but a spokesperson for the firm told WXYZ Channel 7 News Detroit that it learned about the “unfortunate incident” on Monday.
“Firm leadership acted swiftly, and Mr. Levi Smith is no longer employed by Anthony Paulovich & Worrall,” the spokesperson told the station, declining to comment on the ongoing investigation. “We sincerely hope the victim in this situation receives the support they need and begin the process of healing.”
