Wisconsin: Year-Round Park Stickers and EV Taxes

Wisconsin now grants state park entry stickers valid for a full year from the date of purchase rather than just the calendar year. Electric vehicle owners face a new excise tax of 3 cents per kilowatt-hour—though home charging stations get a pass. The state’s “ABLE” program also launches, allowing individuals with disabilities to save for essentials like housing and transportation without jeopardizing benefits.

Florida: Social Media Age Restrictions

One of the most talked-about laws is Florida’s ban on social media use for anyone under 14. Tech companies must delete accounts under suspicion, and older teens (14 or 15) have 90 days to provide parental consent. Websites hosting adult content must implement age-verification or face hefty fines.

Tennessee: Protecting Kids Online and Farmland from Foreign Acquisition

Tennessee’s Protecting Kids on Social Media Act goes live in January, requiring social media providers to verify a user’s age. Additionally, citizens from certain countries (including China and North Korea) are prohibited from owning agricultural land. Alcohol servers must undergo new training to curb date-rape drugging and understand how substances contribute to sexual assault.
