Initially, Fulton downplayed the reports of an altercation, attributing Weston’s behavior to a “mental health crisis.” However, following his July arrest, her tone shifted dramatically. She claimed to have been “brutally assaulted” during a dispute with him, stating, “it is imperative” that Weston “receives the help he desperately needs.”

A Father’s Alleged Role

The core of Fulton’s case against Nicolas Cage rests on the assertion that he was well aware of Weston’s “long history of mental and psychological disorder” and “of committing violent assault and battery” yet continued to enable his behavior through financial support.

This support, according to the complaint, included bailing Weston out of jail on multiple occasions and footing the bill for his downtown Los Angeles condo. Furthermore, Fulton alleges that Cage contributed to Weston’s “reckless” lifestyle by drinking alcohol with him, “despite knowing [Weston’s] substance abuse history.” Weston has been open about his struggles with substance abuse and was arrested for a DUI in 2017.
