“I’ve always been impressed by the team here and what they’ve built,” Freiman said, highlighting Orrick’s expansion into areas such as AI, fintech, and healthtech. “They’re really building the teams to support companies like that — not just on the transactional side, but also in the regulatory areas those companies need.”
Freiman expects AI to be a major focus of his work going forward, both with startups and with established businesses seeking to integrate AI to attract investors.
Orrick’s technology companies group co-leader Samir Bakhru welcomed the hire, describing Freiman as “a well-known and well-respected player in New York’s innovation, venture capital and startup community.”
The hire continues Orrick’s aggressive lateral push in 2025. Earlier this year, the firm added life sciences and venture capital advisers Mark Solakian and Jake Gatof in Boston, as well as a 14-lawyer tech and VC team in Los Angeles, including four partners. Freiman is also Orrick’s fifth new partner in New York this year.
Freiman is a graduate of Duke University and Emory University School of Law.
