Klobuchar has built a strong reputation as a senior Democrat on the antitrust committee, making her especially capable of taking on big-tech if she were to be nominated to serve as the next Attorney General. If she isn’t chosen by Biden, either way, tech companies will have to contend with her views on their power in America.

Klobuchar believes legislative action is necessary to address tech monopoly

She suggested that the Supreme Court’s ruling on previous antitrust cases has made it difficult to reign tech companies in. Hence, she prefers direct legislative action over sending the matter to the court.

“If anyone’s waiting on the courts to solve our monopoly problem, that’s going to take a really long time,” Klobuchar said. “We need to update our laws. We really don’t have another choice besides increasing enforcement.”

The question of big tech’s influence on American society has quickly become a bipartisan issue with larger numbers of Americans becoming more distrustful of tech’s usage of personal data and the overall effect it has on society.
