What I can say are two things: first, it wasn’t part of the conversation, it wasn’t part of what we discussed, and second, that comment you say President Trump made, I didn’t hear it. I can’t deny it because I didn’t hear it, we didn’t hear it. The important, relevant thing for Mexico is it wasn’t part of the conversation, that’s what we had agreed on and that’s how it was.

The brokering of NAFTA alternatives was another topic that surfaced during the meeting of the two world leaders. As many people know, NAFTA was enacted in 1994 by then President Bill Clinton. The deal helped American farmers in some ways, but greatly crippled the nation as a whole when it engendered a vast loss of factory jobs that went to Mexico due to less expensive labor costs.

Now President Trump and President Pena Nieto are working together to produce jobs for employees in both America and Mexico. Additionally, the reduction of illegal immigration, drugs, trafficking, the Venezuela crisis were discussed.

Onlookers percieved the meeting between President Trump and President Pena Nieto as friendly, yet slightly reserved. On the bright side, it appears as though both leaders are willing to place certain differences and work to make the world a safer and better place. Revisiting NAFTA and joining forces to better the working situations for persons in America and Mexico is an excellent start to amending the somewhat severed ties between the two naitons.
