After pointing out the former president’s failure to fulfill policy commitments (such as building a southern border wall and having Mexico foot the bill for it), DeSantis also noted that Trump dropped the ball on delivering wins for Republicans.
Cameron’s defeat in Kentucky is simply the latest example of a Trump-backed contender losing a winnable election. During the 2022 midterms, the following GOP candidates lost their races to Democrats, despite having the Trump endorsement:

Given all that’s transpired, DeSantis continues to assert that he (and not the former president) is the best candidate to revive a culture of winning within the GOP.
In making this case, the Florida governor points to his track record of delivering wins in his state. These wins include not just handily securing reelection last year, but also implementing lasting protections against COVID-related tyrannies, the defense of sports for women/girls, and more.
