Despite trailing in early results on Election Night, Mungia gained momentum as more ballots were counted, ultimately securing the win.

“I’m eternally grateful to everyone who voted for me, who supported me, who urged others to vote for me,” Mungia told Law360 on Wednesday. “I am looking forward to serving all the people of our state.”

In a statement, Larson acknowledged the results but refrained from challenging them, noting the lack of resources for a contest. He also pointed out the political imbalance in the court, with seven out of eight justices backing Mungia.

“I want you to know that the fight is not over,” Larson wrote on his campaign’s Facebook page on Nov. 25. “I will not give up my efforts to support the trial courts and the communities they serve, and I certainly will not give up trying to get partisan politics out of the judiciary.”
