On Thursday night, Bernie Sanders joined nine other 2020 Democrat candidates in Miami, Florida for the second half of the first primary debate. Democrats covered many subject matters, including Medicare-For-All.
When asked directly about the funding for Medicare-for-All, Sanders provided a very interesting answer.
Medicare-For-All and Higher Taxes on the Middle Class
For quite some time now, Democrats have supported Medicare-for-All. This is a form of government-controlled healthcare which would supposedly be “free.” Medicare-for-All is highly controversial and furthermore unpopular amongst the right-wing. Many conservatives have questions about funding for such healthcare and the potential for a decline in the quality of this care.
Last night, the issue came up on the debate stage. When asked about whether Medicare-for-All would cost Americans, Sanders tried to minimize this cost and explain it away. Finally, when asked again, the self-proclaimed Democratic-socialist had to admit the truth.
