Battalion Chief Joe Ostrander, of the Tri-State Fire Protection District, confirmed the chaotic scene of the shooting in Willowbrook, a suburban area located around 21 miles west of Chicago.

Around 12:30 a.m., amid the jubilant cheers and celebrations, an unexpected violent outbreak marred the peace on Route 83 near Honeysuckle Rose Lane.

The large crowd assembled for the celebration found itself amidst a shower of bullets, transforming the festive scene into a tableau of fear and confusion.

According to initial reports from fire officials, 10 individuals were directly impacted by the shooting in Willowbrook.

However, the figures later climbed to a staggering 20, as the DuPage County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

Among the victims, two are in a critical state, while others suffered from less severe, albeit traumatic, "graze wounds."

"It was like a nightmarish rerun of fireworks," said Markeshia Avery, a witness. "Suddenly, we started hearing gunshots, and everything just spiraled into chaos. We all just scattered."

The relentless gunfire echoed around the vicinity, as attendees like Avery ducked and sprinted for safety amidst the horrifying shooting in Willowbrook.

As dawn broke over Willowbrook, the aftermath of the shooting was haunting.

A large police presence could be seen meticulously combing through the scene, assessing the debris and bullet casings strewn across the parking lot.

The vicinity was cordoned off, with entrances patrolled by officers.

The injured victims from the Willowbrook shooting were swiftly transported to hospitals across DuPage, Cook, and Will counties.

At least 12 ambulances had been deployed, as confirmed by Ostrander, reflecting the extensive reach of the shooting in Willowbrook.
