The best viewing experience will be after midnight when the sky is at its darkest. Skywatchers should find a location away from city lights for the clearest view. Learn more at American Meteor Society.
Crescent Moon Aligns with Venus, Saturn, and Mercury: April 25
Early risers on Friday, April 25, will witness a stunning celestial display. Just before sunrise, the crescent moon will align with Venus, Saturn, and Mercury in the eastern sky.
- Venus will shine the brightest at the top of the alignment.
- Saturn will appear dimmer, positioned below and to the right of Venus, near the crescent moon.
- Mercury will be the hardest to spot, staying low on the horizon.
April marks the beginning of Venus’ extended presence in the pre-dawn sky, where it will remain visible throughout the summer and into autumn. For tips on observing planets, check out Sky & Telescope.
With the Super Pink Moon, the Lyrid meteor shower, and a rare planetary alignment, April 2025 promises to be an unforgettable month for skywatchers. Grab your telescope, find a dark sky location, and enjoy the cosmic show!
