The No AI FRAUD Legislation
In response to the growing threat posed by AI abuse, a bipartisan group of US House lawmakers introduced the No Artificial Intelligence Fake Replicas, And Unauthorized Duplications (No AI FRAUD) Act on January 10.
Led by Rep. María Elvira Salazar, the legislation aims to establish a federal framework protecting individuals’ rights to their likeness and voice against AI-generated fakes and forgeries.
Rep. Salazar emphasized the relevance of the bill in light of Taylor Swift’s case, labeling it a clear example of AI abuse. The No AI FRAUD Act seeks to punish those utilizing generative AI to harm others, be they celebrities or not. Its overarching goal is to safeguard every individual’s right to control their own image and voice in the digital age.
The convergence of technology, morality, and legality in the context of deepfake porn demands careful consideration and legislative action.
The No AI FRAUD Act represents a crucial step towards establishing a federal framework to address AI abuse.
