Here, homicides, gang violence, and sexual assault continue to wreak havoc across tourist areas and even communities where travelers are seldom found. The State Department therefore advises Americans in the Bahamas to remain mindful of vacation rentals without active cameras.

Throughout this Caribbean country, tourist engagement in watercraft sports is a fairly common pastime. Unfortunately, the State Department forewarns these activities could come with poor maintenance. Moreover, the personnel overseeing such recreations may lack the necessary certifications.

Finally, Americans in the Bahamas should only open doors at their accommodations if they know the person(s) on the other side.

Similar warnings from the US Embassy

This past Wednesday, the US Embassy declared since the start of this year alone, at least 18 murders transpired in Nassau. These killings haven’t just happened after dark, but sometimes in broad daylight as well.

More often than not, criminal activity traces back to gang involvement, hence the aforementioned notice from the US State Department.
