Virgin River Actor Stewart McLean Found Dead as Police Launch Homicide Investigation

Virgin River actor Stewart McLean has been found dead after disappearing from his home in British Columbia. Canadian investigators are now treating the shocking case as a homicide investigation.
The 45-year-old actor, known for appearances in television series including Virgin River, Supernatural and Arrow, was last seen at his Lions Bay home on May 15 before authorities later discovered his remains near rail tracks in the Squamish area.
The case has stunned friends, colleagues and fans who described McLean as dependable, professional and deeply respected within the entertainment industry.
Investigators are continuing to piece together the actor’s final movements while searching for answers surrounding his death.
Concern Grew After Virgin River Actor Missed Filming Session
Friends of McLean reportedly became alarmed when the actor failed to appear for a scheduled filming session, something those close to him said was completely unlike him.
According to longtime friend and acting coach Jeff Seymour, the missed commitment immediately raised concerns because McLean had built a reputation for reliability and professionalism throughout his acting career.
“He was meticulous about everything, and there would be no chance he blew it off or slept too late,” Seymour told The Canadian Press.
Seymour explained that McLean’s disappearance seemed entirely out of character, particularly for someone he described as highly aware of his surroundings and careful in his personal life.
The actor had reportedly visited Seymour in Los Angeles just weeks before his disappearance.
“We had the time of our lives,” Seymour said. “It just doesn’t make any sense. He was incredibly situationally aware.”
Additional information about the ongoing investigation has been shared by the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) and regional Canadian law enforcement agencies.
Police Treat Death of Virgin River Actor as a Homicide
Authorities officially confirmed on May 22 that McLean’s death was being investigated as a homicide.
Canada’s Integrated Homicide Investigation Team stated investigators are actively reviewing surveillance footage, conducting interviews and attempting to build a timeline of the actor’s final days before his disappearance.
Investigators said McLean’s remains were discovered near rail tracks across from his Squamish-area residence after an intensive search effort.
