Big Tech censorship is no longer a conspiracy theory. There is new and compelling evidence of a large and effective Federal government campaign to control the media before and after the 2020 election.

In an August interview with Joe Rogan, Mark Zuckerberg of Meta, formerly Facebook, said the Hunter Biden laptop story was suppressed after FBI warnings to be “vigilant.” And look out for Russian propaganda like in the 2016 election.

“We just kind of thought, hey, look, if the FBI, which I still view as a legitimate institution in this country, is very professional law enforcement, if they come to us and tell us that we need to be on guard about something then I’m going to take that seriously,” he said.

It wasn’t just random warnings of Russian propaganda. Major social media platforms and tech companies participated in monthly meetings with the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) the FBI, the DHS, and other government agencies. 

The Federal government’s initiative was over dealing with pre-2020 election misinformation. The platforms at the meetings are allegedly Verizon Media, Twitter, Facebook, Wikipedia, Discord, Reddit, Microsoft, and LinkedIn.

Among the new disclosures is that Facebook gave the Feds access to a special portal. The Facebook Content Request System allowed them to look at the platform and quickly censor whatever they wanted. 

Big tech Censorship kept secret by DHS 

A report appearing in The Intercept is based on several solid sources. This includes Department of Homeland Security (DHS) "memos, emails, and documents" over several years. Some of the evidence was acquired through an open records lawsuit. There are also available public documents involved. And most importantly leaked documents.

The documents are clear evidence that there has been a massive effort by DHS to stop the spread of whatever it considers being “misinformation.” 

DHS working with Facebook and Twitter claims they are only removing content shared "with harmful intent and likely without context.”

Disinformation Board rejected

In April 2022, DHS announced it was forming the Disinformation Governance Board. And it was supposed to protect the “national security” of the U.S.

 The new “Truth” czar slated to lead the DGB was Nina Jankowicz. And she was involved in 2020 with a Hunter Biden laptop disinformation campaign. 

 The DGB was quickly dismantled. And officially ended in August 2022.

According to the report the DHS took steps to scrub any threatening content. 

And it also has been pressuring major social media platforms and tech companies to gain more content control. And plans to expand its censorship efforts.

Journalist Lee Fang claims that "obvious parody accounts," content that “challenged the U.S. government's pandemic response” was censored. And also, content that may have been inconvenient to the Democrat party. This includes the Hunter Biden laptop story.

The government has “become arbiters of what constitutes false or dangerous information on inherently political topics."  So, the threats may include anything said by Republicans about racial justice, Ukraine, the pandemic, and an election. Big Tech censorship has been very effective in not just controlling information, but also in creating propaganda.
