Among the items extracted from the house were over 200 firearms, a life-size doll encased in glass, a large portrait of a woman bearing a bruised face, and a filing cabinet. Investigators, identifiable in “crime lab” attire and protective suits, were seen carrying out various household items including a desktop computer, a sizeable picture frame, and a mirror.

Tied to One of New York’s Most Infamous Mysteries

These charges are an astonishing breakthrough in one of New York’s most infamous unsolved mysteries. Beginning in 2010, police on the hunt for a missing woman near Long Island’s Gilgo Beach stumbled upon 10 sets of human remains dispersed along a long barrier island.

The victims, comprised of eight women, one man, and a young child, were deemed unlikely to have been killed by a single perpetrator. However, several of the bodies found in close proximity were suspected to be the handiwork of a serial killer, now alleged to be Heuermann.
