The long Depp vs Heard saga is finally over with Amber Heard announcing her decision to settle the case with ex-husband Johnny Depp. And with her agreement to settle, the appeal she filed in July will not move forward.

On Monday, the Aquaman star said she made a “very difficult” decision to settle after her loss in the two-month defamation lawsuit launched by Depp.

Amber Heard,36, posted on Instagram that she would settle with Depp in the midst of appeals in a Fairfax Virginia courtroom.

The Pirates of the Caribbean star won the case. And the seven-member jury found Heard guilty of three counts of defamation for the 2018 article she penned for The Washington Post.

Depp was awarded $10 million in compensatory damages and $5 million dollars in punitive damages. The punitive damages were reduced by law to $350,000. Depp’s total award is $10,350,000.

Although both parties had varying degrees of liability, Heard was awarded only $2 million in compensatory damages for her countersuit.

Heard did not disclose the financial arrangement. But Johnny Depp has said repeatedly that financial gain was not his motive for the court battle. And it is being reported that Depp will only receive $1 million from Heard’s insurance.
