Pascale Cecile Veronique Ferrier, 56, has been handed a 22-year prison sentence for her assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump.
Ferrier had no prior criminal record and held a master’s degree in engineering.
The events unfolded in Washington, D.C., where Ferrier, a Canadian and French dual citizen, made headlines when she sent a letter to the White House containing an envelope filled with poison ricin.
Ferrier’s political violence occurred in September 2020 when she sent a letter to the White House, labeling Trump as “The Ugly Tyrant Clown.”
The message also warned, “If it doesn’t work, I’ll find a better recipe for another poison, or I might use my gun when I’ll be able to come. Enjoy! FREE REBEL SPIRIT.”
The mail interceptors at a sorting facility flagged the lethal letter, preventing it from reaching its intended target.
Exposure to ricin can lead to a painful and agonizing death within 36 to 72 hours, causing massive bleeding from the stomach and intestines, ultimately leading to the failure of vital organs.
